Mobile Saunas in Ireland

Natural beauty and proximity to the sea make mobile saunas a special experience. There are 17 mobile saunas along the coast of Ireland. Here is a list and some information about them.

The wellness and self-care trend has been on the rise even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, however, the pandemic has accelerated this trend as people have sought ways to relieve stress and improve their overall health.

Saunas have long been known for their numerous health benefits, including improved cardiovascular function, increased circulation, and reduced stress levels. The combination of heat therapy and cold plunges also helps to strengthen the immune system and boost metabolism.
In recent years, mobile saunas have become increasingly popular, allowing people to enjoy these health benefits in the great outdoors, surrounded by the sea and nature.

Wood-burning mobile sauna at the sea or in the middle of the forest is a totally different experience from the sauna you have in your gym, local spa or in the hotel, you are staying in. It is yet another kind of sauna experience. The fact you are outside and close to nature gives it a special vibe that cannot be compared to other sauna experiences.

Driftwood Sauna – driftwoodsauna.ie

Location:

The Driftwood sauna is located in Spiddal Co. Galway at the famous pier where the final shooting scene was filmed in the Guard Movie. Here is the famous shootout

Size:

The sauna is rectangular in shape, rather than a barrel-shaped. It has a small changing area with hooks and shelves. It is big enough to comfortably fit two people changing. The sauna room was big enough to fit five average size men comfortably. I wondered if six of us would fit. The sauna is really modern and the cedar woodwork is finished to a very high standard.

Reviews:

The Driftwood sauna has 17 Google Reviews ( including ours!) with a score of 4.9

Our experience:

We ( two of us) arrived on Friday night (7pm). We were warmly welcomed by Monique, who showed us around and explain everything. There is a cold plunge pool just outside to cool down if needed. There is a wood-burning stove in the corner, which generate awesome heat. The temperature stayed above 80 C, despite the door being opened a good few times. Drinking water was provided.
There is a large window but we didn’t see anything as it was pitch black outside, however, this wasn’t an issue at all.
It was too far and too dark to get to the sea. In fact, the “being at the sea” thing didn’t matter at all. We were there with a group of another three lads who came together. We had great chats and laughs with them for the full-time being there. We really enjoyed their company and the sauna experience very much

The plunge pool and the bitter Connemara wind did the perfect job of cooling me down.
